Marina Silva likely to defeat Rousseff in runoff, survey says
Presidential candidate Dilma Rousseff, from the Workers’ Party (“PT”), is leading the opinion poll for the upcoming October elections. Next stands Marina Silva, a member of the Brazilian Socialist Party (“PSB”), with 19%. If faced by Silva, who has just become a presidential candidate, Rousseff would not be re-elected, the survey indicates.
The poll was conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Public Opinion and Statistics (“IBOPE”), at the request of Rede Globo and O Estado de S. Paulo newspaper, which released the figures on Tuesday (Aug 26).
